About

A space for ambitious people, meaningful connections and important conversations.

The Opportunity Table is an independent platform for ambitious people to connect, exchange ideas and have conversations that create new possibilities.

Why it exists

Purpose

To create intentional rooms where interesting and ambitious people can meet across industries, disciplines and levels of experience, exchange perspectives, build meaningful relationships and discover opportunities that may not emerge in ordinary professional settings.

Vision

A dynamic and respected community where ambitious people connect, ideas are exchanged, meaningful conversations happen and new possibilities emerge. Over time, more than a single event: a community, platform and network that brings people across industries together to think, learn, contribute and create.

Mission

To create intentional spaces where ambitious people can connect, exchange ideas, share knowledge and have meaningful conversations that inspire collaboration, innovation and opportunity.

Some of the most valuable opportunities begin with being in the right room and having the right conversation.

The mission in practice

  • Bring interesting and ambitious people into the same room.
  • Facilitate conversations about business, leadership, innovation and society.
  • Give people space to share ideas, knowledge and experience.
  • Create room for collaboration and partnerships.
  • Introduce people to new industries, businesses and ways of thinking.
  • Build relationships that extend beyond the gathering itself.

Founder, The Opportunity Table

Vivian Jonathan, founder of The Opportunity Table

Vivian Jonathan is a technology professional, entrepreneur and award-winning social impact advocate, recognised as the JCI Dublin TOYP 2026 winner in Advocacy & Public Impact.

Her work spans technology, business and community development. She is the Founder of Career Connect Ireland and the Tech-Girl Foundation, and Co-founder of Resk.ai, bringing experience in building ventures, leading programmes and connecting people with opportunities.

Vivian founded The Opportunity Table out of a belief that the right conversation can open doors. She brings together founders, professionals, creators and changemakers to share perspectives, build relationships and explore what they can create together.

At the heart of her work is a simple purpose: to help more people turn their potential into possibility.

What it is, and what it is not

What it is

  • An independent platform, curated community and gathering series.
  • A way to bring the right people together for meaningful conversations that can create new possibilities.
  • Focused on business, innovation, leadership, ideas, opportunity and the world around us.
  • Curated, intentional, thoughtful and conversation-led.
  • Cross-industry, cross-discipline and multi-stage, united by ambition, curiosity and a willingness to engage.

What it is not

  • Not a conventional networking event built around collecting contacts.
  • Not a career fair or an employability programme.
  • Not a sales room where everybody is trying to pitch.
  • Not a conference dominated by long presentations.
  • Not restricted to one profession, industry, age group or career stage.
  • Not a platform whose success is measured only by attendance.

Where careers fit

Career conversations have a place at the table where they meet leadership, business and the changing world of work. Careers are one part of the conversation, not the identity of the platform.

Who belongs at the table

Not a job title. A way of showing up.

People who take a seat tend to be:

  • Curious rather than performative.
  • Willing to listen as well as speak.
  • Comfortable engaging with people outside their immediate field.
  • Interested in ideas, not only titles.
  • Open to sharing lessons, challenges and failures alongside success.
  • Able to contribute a perspective, question, experience, idea or connection.
  • Interested in what could happen after the conversation, not just during it.

Who takes a seat

Not limited to one profession, industry or career stage. The common thread is ambition, curiosity, contribution and a willingness to engage.

  • Business & Entrepreneurship

Founders, CEOs, business owners, entrepreneurs, startup leaders, investors and strategists, bringing experience of building, scaling, investing and making decisions.

  • Professional Community

Senior professionals, specialists, industry experts, consultants, emerging leaders and people navigating transitions, bringing domain knowledge and lived experience.

  • Innovation & Creativity

Technologists, product builders, innovators, designers, researchers and creatives, bringing new ideas, emerging technologies and different ways of solving problems.

  • Community & Leadership

Community leaders, social entrepreneurs, thought leaders, changemakers and cross-sector professionals, bringing perspective on people, society, leadership and impact.

How conversations are designed

Six qualities shape every conversation at the table.

  • Thoughtful

Not every conversation needs an immediate answer.

  • Relevant

Topics connect to real issues, experiences and opportunities.

  • Diverse

Different industries and perspectives are represented.

  • Honest

People can share lessons, challenges and failures alongside successes.

  • Forward-thinking

Conversations encourage people to think about what is coming next.

  • Practical

Where possible, people leave with ideas they can apply.

How we behave at the table

Seven principles shape every gathering.

  • Bring something to the table

Everyone has something to contribute: an experience, idea, question, perspective or connection.

  • Stay curious

Listen, ask questions and learn from people outside your immediate field.

  • Share generously

Knowledge becomes more valuable when it is shared.

  • Connect beyond titles

A CEO, founder, professional, creative or entrepreneur is more than their title.

  • Challenge ideas, respect people

Healthy debate and different perspectives are welcome; disrespect is not.

  • Create space

Good conversations require both speaking and listening.

  • Think beyond the room

The value of a connection may not be obvious immediately.

Questions, answered

Is The Opportunity Table a networking event?

No. People will connect, but networking is not the point. What we create is a deliberately curated room and meaningful conversation that can lead to relationships, ideas and opportunities.

Is it a career event?

No. Careers and the future of work can be discussed, but they are only one part of the wider conversation.

Who is it for?

People with something to contribute, something to explore or a genuine desire to learn from others, across business, the professions, innovation, creativity, leadership and community.

Is it only for founders and CEOs?

No. Established leaders are part of the room, but so are emerging leaders, professionals, innovators, creators and others whose perspectives strengthen the conversation.

What does premium mean here?

The curation, the quality of the room, thoughtful programme design, the environment and the standard of conversation.

What might someone leave with?

New perspectives, meaningful contacts, useful ideas and thoughtful introductions. Sometimes a collaboration, an opportunity or a next conversation worth pursuing, although no gathering can promise one.

How is success measured?

Not just by attendance. The stronger question is what happened because these people met.

Can organisations partner with The Opportunity Table?

Yes. Partnership can include sponsorship, speakers, venues, expertise, community access, content, investment conversations and collaborative initiatives, provided it strengthens rather than overwhelms the experience.

When is the next gathering?

Our next gatherings are being planned. Dates, venues and details will be announced on the Events page.

How do I take part?

Register your interest. It is not a ticket or an account, and you can choose whether to hear when gatherings and community details are announced.

Pull up a seat. The conversation starts here.

Because sometimes, the next opportunity begins with simply being at the right table.
