Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
Draft — pending review
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across this website.
What we have done
We have designed and built the website so that:
- every page and form can be used with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus indicator;
- pages use clear headings, landmarks and descriptive link text, so they make sense with a screen reader;
- every form field has a visible label, and errors are explained in words, both in a summary at the top of the form and next to the field concerned;
- success and errors are never shown by colour or movement alone;
- text and essential controls meet WCAG AA contrast levels, and our gold accent colour is not used for text on light backgrounds, where it would be hard to read;
- text can be enlarged to 200% and pages work on screens as narrow as 320 pixels without scrolling sideways;
- animation is kept subtle, and it is switched off if you have asked your device to reduce motion, including if you change that setting while a page is open;
- images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology;
- the forms still work if JavaScript is switched off or fails to load; and
- nothing plays automatically, and there are no pop-ups.
How we check
During development we check pages with automated accessibility tools and test them using only a keyboard. A full audit, including testing with screen readers, is planned before this statement is finalised. [TO BE CONFIRMED: audit date.]
Compliance status
We have not yet completed a full audit, so we do not yet claim full conformance with WCAG 2.2 AA. We will update this statement with the results. [TO BE CONFIRMED]
Known limitations
- Audit findings. Any issues found in the audit will be listed here, with what we are doing about them. [TO BE CONFIRMED]
- Bot check (only if switched on). If we switch on a bot check for our forms, it is provided by our hosting provider. If you cannot complete it, email us instead and we will handle your enquiry or registration by email. [TO BE CONFIRMED: whether it is switched on at launch.]
- Policy pages. Our policy pages are drafts and their wording may change.
Accessibility at gatherings
Accessibility arrangements for gatherings, including requirements for venues, are still being decided. [TO BE CONFIRMED] If you have access needs or questions about taking part, please get in touch; we would like to hear from you.
Feedback and contact
If you find a problem with this website, or need information from it in a different format, please email hello@theopportunitytable.com [TO BE CONFIRMED: contact address] or use the contact form.
It helps if you tell us:
- the page or feature concerned;
- what went wrong, or what you were trying to do; and
- the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using.
We will read every message and reply by email. [TO BE CONFIRMED: response target.]
About this statement
